3D Printed Products

Includes decorative objects, collectibles, hobby accessories, display pieces, organizers, and non-safety-critical accessories. BFC identifies the filament and material whenever reasonably necessary.

General care:

• Handle carefully.

• Keep away from excessive heat unless the material is specifically rated for the intended environment.

• Do not expose to open flames.

• Do not place near high-temperature surfaces.

• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight when UV or heat exposure may affect the material.

• Do not intentionally bend, crush, melt, drill, cut, or modify the product unless specifically permitted.

Cleaning:

• Use a soft cloth or gentle brush.

• Mild soap and water may be used when appropriate for the material.

• Avoid harsh solvents and aggressive chemicals.

• Do not use abrasive materials that could damage the surface.

Heat: 3D-printed plastics can soften, deform, or lose dimensional stability when exposed to sufficient heat. Do not assume that a 3D-printed item is heat-resistant simply because it appears solid or rigid.

Inspection: Before use, inspect for cracks, layer separation, broken components, excessive wear, warping, deformation, and loose or damaged parts. Discontinue use if damage affects the item's intended function.

Intended use: BFC 3D-printed products are hobby, display, and collector items intended for users age 16 and older, and must be purchased by an adult age 18 or older. They are not toys and are not designed or intended for children. See 3D Prints & Models and the 3D Printing Filament Guide.

3D-printed products also have these characteristics, which are normal and not necessarily defects: visible layer lines, fine surface texture, small imperfections, minor color or finish variations, print seams, support-removal marks, and small differences between batches or individual prints.

Handling: Handle delicate parts gently. Support larger or heavier sections when moving the item and hold it by stronger structural areas. Do not drop, crush, bend, twist, or pull on components, and keep products where they will not be stepped on.

Cleaning products to avoid: Unless approved for the specific product and material, avoid acetone, paint thinner, mineral spirits, strong solvents, harsh degreasers, bleach, alcohol-based cleaners, abrasive cleaners, abrasive sponges, steel wool, and rough scrub brushes. Certain chemicals can discolor, soften, weaken, crack, or dissolve 3D-printed materials. For a deeper clean, apply diluted mild soap to a soft cloth rather than soaking the item, remove residue with a clean damp cloth, and let the product dry completely.

Water: Water resistance varies by material, print settings, and finish. Unless a product is identified as water-resistant, do not soak, submerge, or pressure-wash it, and dry it thoroughly after accidental exposure.

Heat and sunlight: Keep products away from hot vehicles, radiators, stoves, fireplaces, heating vents, hot appliances, hot water, and cooking surfaces. Never place a 3D-printed item on a hot surface unless BFC identifies it as suitable. Extended sunlight can fade, color-change, or weaken some materials, so display and store products indoors away from prolonged direct sunlight.

Appliances: Unless BFC states otherwise, do not place 3D-printed products in dishwashers, microwaves, ovens, toasters, air fryers, slow cookers, or other high-temperature appliances.

Outdoor use: Unless identified as an outdoor product, 3D-printed products are for indoor use. Sunlight, heat, cold, rain, wind, and temperature changes can shorten their useful life.

Functional and garden accessories: Use them only for their stated purpose and do not exceed stated size, weight, temperature, or environmental limits. Remove dirt and plant debris after use, wash with mild soap when appropriate, dry completely before storage, and inspect for cracking, warping, or brittleness before seasonal reuse.

Display and collectibles: Display products on a stable, level surface appropriate for their size and weight, away from edges and places they could be knocked over. Use mounting hardware suited to the product's weight and the wall surface; BFC is not responsible for damage from improper installation or unsuitable display surfaces. Do not force components together; if a part does not fit, stop and inspect the connection. For long-term preservation, collectors should display items indoors in stable temperatures, minimize handling, dust gently, protect from moisture, children, pets, and accidental impact, and keep the original packaging when practical.

Articulated and moving parts: Move joints slowly, do not force them past their designed range, keep them free of dust and debris, and do not apply lubricants unless BFC recommends one. If a part becomes unusually stiff, stop using it and contact BFC.

Painted, finished, or coated products: Do not scrub aggressively. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, abrasive materials, excessive heat, and prolonged water exposure. Normal handling can eventually wear painted or decorative surfaces.

Adhesives and repairs: Do not automatically use glue, heat, solvents, or other repair methods on a damaged product, because different materials react differently. Stop using the damaged item, review any product-specific repair instructions, and contact BFC if you are unsure.

Damaged on arrival: If a 3D-printed product arrives damaged and you believe it may be a shipping or manufacturing problem, contact BFC with photographs before trying to repair it. Damage from misuse, accidents, unauthorized modification, improper storage, excessive heat, or chemicals may not qualify for replacement or refund.

3D Printed Items Used Around Food

Some products may be designed to assist with food-related activities without being intended to directly contact food. Please review the individual product description and intended-use statement.

Unless BFC specifically identifies a product as suitable for the intended food-contact application:

• Do not assume the item is food-safe.

• Do not use it for direct food contact.

• Do not use it with hot food or liquids.

• Do not place it in a dishwasher.

• Do not microwave it.

• Do not use it in an oven.

• Do not expose it to high temperatures.

Product-specific instructions identify any approved food-related use.
